Kim La Fave, began his career as a freelance illustrator 1978 in Toronto Ontario. He is presently working from his home / studio on the West Coast, for a variety of clients in Canada and the U.S. Dividing his time between advertising and editorial assignments, as well as Childrens book projects.

A recent convert to the Apple MacIntosh, Kim is also exploring the digital environment, as well as continuing to work in more traditional mediums.

Kim has won various awards from the Vancouver Art Director's Club and The
Advertising and Design Club of Canada, CA Magazine, Studio Magazine Awards
and The Marketing Awards. Amos's Sweater written by Janet Lunn and
illustrated by Kim won The Governor General's Award for Children's
Illustration
, The Ruth Swartz Children's Book Award and The Amelia
Frances Howard-Gibbon Medal.
